WPA World Women's 10Ball Championships
Back in May I went to Manila for the Inagural World Women's 10Ball Champs organised by Dragon Promotions.
This was the 1st time I had been to the Phillipines & I was very excited about being there to play as they are a Pool Mad Country.
On our 1st day we attended a Players Meeting, Press Conference, Official lunch & Charity Event. It was a very busy day but also a lot of fun.

Next day we started play.
My 1st match was against an 11yo Filipino girl Gillian Go. She was quite a good player for someone so young. I had some chances that I didn't take. It was very glarry & extremely sticky due to the heat & humidity, something I wasn't prepared for. I went down in this match 5-3.
Match 2 was against Tina Mergalio from USA. I started out strong & didn't miss many shots at all. This was the best I had ever played in an International match & I won 5-1.
Match 3 was against Shin Mei Lui from Taiwan a former 2 time World 9Ball champ. I also played well in this match only missing 2 makeable balls but my opponent was just too good & I went down 5-2.
Match 4 against Laetitia Dos Santos France. This was 1 of the closest matches I have ever played. I won the 1st rack & then we traded games all the way until it got to 4-4. She played a safety on the 1 but somehow I managed to pull off a huge 1-10 carom. I screwed off the 1 on to the back rail & the white came off perfect to cut the 10 into the corner pocket, giving me a 5-4 win.
Match 5 against Yu Ram Cha Korea. This was a must win for me if I was going to make the finals. It was the only match being played & there was a lot of spectators. I played well & only missed 1 pot that I should've got. It was a tough match against a tough opponent & I tried my hardest but it just wasn't good enough, going down 5-3.

I missed out on making the finals by 2 frames which was rather disappointing, but I was still very happy with how I played & very proud of how composed I managed to stay during the times I was under immense pressure. I'm sure it will all help for future tournaments.
This was my best performance to date. Time to do some sightseeing watch the finals & learn some new things for next time.

Congratulations to my very good friend Rubilen Amit from Phillipines who won the Inagural World Women's 10Ball Title defeating Shin Mei Lui from Taiwan.
Day after the tournament finished Rubilen & her friends Jazzie, Ferdi & Angel came to collect mum & I for a day out & about in Manila.

Filipino's love to shop & eat & this is what we spent the day doing. We went to a mall, had sandwiches & juice for lunch, about 1/2 an hour later we were eating again this time at a Cupcake Shop. Next it was time to take Angel to the Airport. From there we went to watch the Sunset on Manila Bay. The colours in the sky were amazing & it was very relaxing especially with the cooler temperature.

Now on to Dinner time. There are numerous wet markets & restaurants on Manila Bay so we went to the Market where Ferdi bought us some Prawns, Scallops, Crabs & Pork. Then he chose a Filipino restaurant & told them how we wanted our food cooked. This was 1 of the most delicious meals I have ever eaten & if I get the chance to go back to Manila I will most definitely head there to eat again.

We were so full we didn't finish all the food but it was then off to a Creperie for Dessert. I felt like I was going to explode but had thoroughly enjoyed my day. It was the perfect ending to a great trip. Good food, great sites & even better Friends...............what more could you possibly want!!!!!!
Til next time

WPA Amway World Women's Open 9Ball
Well Im sorry I have been so slack in writing this. No excuse just forgetful!!!
Well back in April I went to Taipei for the Amway World Women's Open 9Ball. I had a great time. Mr Tu who organises this event is so friendly, as are all his staff & Taiwanese people in general. There is a major language barrier but people will still help you anyway they can.
My 1st official engagement was to go to a TV Studio, have my make up done & say "Hello" to Taiwan for the TV commercial for the tournament. This was a bit nerve racking as I had never done anything like this before, but was also a lot of fun.
Next day we went to the Players meeting & Welcoming Banquet where we had some great food. Then it was time for the Press Conference, we got introduced by our groups & had to stand up & wave to the cameras. This went out on live TV.
Play started the next day. My first match was against Yukiko Oi from Japan. I played well at the beginning while she was still cold & got to a 3-1 lead. However she came good & I had a little bit of bad luck but was happy with a 7-4 defeat.
My 2nd match was against the current World 9Ball Champion Yuan chun Lin from Taiwan. She is a great player & did several break & runs on me. I never got into this match & lost 7-0.
Match No3 was against Japans No1 Chihiro Karawara. I was 2-2 but a bit of bad luck & 1 bad shot later I was 6-2 down. Lost match 7-3.
My next match against Joanne Ashton from Canada was my first win in a World Title. It was a close match but I managed to pull out the win 7-5. I was happy & very relieved to have finally won a match.
My last match was against former World 9Ball Champ Julie Kelly from Ireland. I played well in this match & with the score at 3-3 I didnt get another opportunity & went down 7-3.
This was my best tournament to date. I was pleased with how I played & how I held my nerve in tough situations. It was now time to watch the Last 24 & see what else I could learn to put into practice for my next tourney.
Winner of this event was Chieh-Yu Chou (Taiwan) who defeated Karen Corr Ireland (Ireland).
The way the Players get treated in Taiwan is amazing compared to anything else I have ever played in. TV coverage, Autograph signing, Banquets all fully paid for. We had to attend a Sponsor's Dinner, all I can say is 'WOW'. Prawns, Crayfish, Abalone, you name it we probably ate it & then there were the things that we ate that we didn't want to know about LOL. Drinks all included, it was awesome, probably the highlight of my trip. Apart from catching up with friends & making some new ones.
Having a cuddle with Jeanette 'Black Widow' Lee.
Hanging with Allison Fisher.
I promise it won't take me as long to get back here, where I will blog about my trip to Manila for the World 10Ball Titles.
Til then keep potting.

Hey Everyone
Last week I also found out I had the Oceania spot to the World Women's 10Ball Championships in Manila 1st-6th June. This is somewhere I always hoped I'd get to go to play pool. They love the game over there. But after going to Taiwan I knew this would be tough, so I put out the question on Facebook 'Is there anyone who could help with some Sponsorship?'
Well the answer to that question was YES.
A VERY BIG THANKYOU TO STUART & JAMES FROM CUEWORLD IN SYDNEY for coming through & becoming my No1 Pool Sponsor. You can check out their website at www.cueworld.com.au for all your pool supplies. Please make sure you mention seeing them on my website.
This sponsorship is great news for me as it will enable me to get to a few more tournaments. Here's hoping for a long & prosperous partnership.
Woohoo I will be heading to Manila soon.

Hey Everyone
Well we had the Trans Tasman Teams Test last week. We played 8Ball on day 1, at the end of the day we were equal with New Zealand 27-27 so we had to have a 3 person playoff to decide who won the 8Ball trophy. This went to New Zealand 2-1.
Day 2 we played 9Ball . This was also close but went to NZ once again with a score of 28-26. The overall trophy therefore went to NZ with a score of 55-53. A little disappointing but was played in great spirit & lots of fun was had by all.
Saturday saw the beginning of the Trans Tasman Singles event. I had 5 matches to play. I won them all with scores of 7-0, 7-0, 7-3, 7-1 & beat Oceania's No1 Denise Wilkinson 7-5.
This put me 1st after qualifying, Denise 2nd, Lydia Nenewale (NZ) 3rd & Wendy Cook (NZ) 4th. Semi Finals were Me v Wendy & Denise v Lydia. We started play at 4pm on Sunday Denise & I both won our Semi's 9-2, so this meant Oceania's No1 & No2 would battle it out in the Final.
This was an extremely close fought high standard match. Unfortunately I went down 11-10. I played well & was very happy with how composed I was under pressure to come back to 10-10 from 10-8 down. Oh well back to the practice table I go.
